With roundabout one million inhabitants, Odessa is the most important black sea seaport.
It is also said to be the most beautiful city in Ukraine.
Odessa’s landmark are the Potemkin stairs, a giant stairway with a striking optical illusion
leading from the City center to the harbor, which gained global recognition through Sergei
Eisenstein’s movie “Battleship Potemkin”.
It is definitely an experience to climb those stairs but there is also a cable car leading to
the beautiful historic center of Odessa with its many sights like for example churches,
museums, the Panteleimon monastery or the old opera house build in 1887.
Attending an opera or ballet performance is optional.
